SPANISH

The Chicago metropolitan area is home to one of the largest Spanish speaking communities in the country. Many members of this community are recent immigrants with limited English language skills and education making them particularly vulnerable to illegal activities in employment, housing and consumer transactions. These factors also limit their access to our legal system. In recognition of particular challenges faced by low-income families within the Spanish speaking community, all of CARPLS legal aid services are provided in Spanish. The Spanish Hotline (312-738-9200) is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM - 1:30 PM and on Wednesday evenings until 7:30 PM. Spanish language services are also available at the Domestic Relations Self-Help Desk and the Collection Self-Help Desk. Additionally, CARPLS has developed a series of informational and self-help material in Spanish to address many of the common legal issues confronted by our Spanish-speaking community.
